NA'AT RANG
17th Edition
Compilation of Essays on Na'at
Raffiuzzaman Zuberi

NA'AT RANG 17th Edition Page0021

The seventeenth edition of Na'at Rang is a rich collection of essays on Na'at literature... poetical praise of the Holy Prophet ( ö). It is a subject very dear to every Muslim and for centuries Muslims and even non-Muslims have paid tributes to their beloved master in excellent poetry. The tradition began during the life time of Rasul Allah ( ö) and continues since then with great devotion, love and respect.
The essay in this issue cover a wide spectrum of Na'at literature and I would like to mention two essays which are of particular interest... one by Abu Sufyan Islahi from India on two Na'at by the Egyptian poet Ahmad Shoqui (1868-1932)... Zikr-e-Atwar and Nahj Al-Burdah and the other Dr. Syed Yahya Nasheet's introduction of Na'at literature in Marahati. The essays by Dr. Abul Khair Kashfi, Rias Husain and Firoz Shah are also interesting. Na'ats by Saleem Kausar, Hafiz Taib and Rahman Kiyani are very inspiring.
Na'at Rang, a Literary magazine devoted to promotion of Na'at literature was launched by Sabih Rahmani in 1995. Himself a Na'atgo poet, he has dedicated his life to this venture which in his own words meant to be a forum where writers and poets of different schools of thought could join in paying their tributes to the Prophet of Allah ( ö) and discuss with an open mind various aspects of Na'at literature and also allow their readers to express their opinion with the same candour.
It is a bold step that Sabih Rahmani has taken as such discussions (Some times) tend to become controversial. However, Sabih Rahmani has successfully overcome this problem and is continuing the publication of this excellent magazine.
