What the Glorious Sahaba Ikram says about the subject:
1. Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (Radi ALLAH Anho) wrote:
After gaining victory and success in Ghazwa Tabook when Rasoolullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) arrived in
Madinatul Munawwara, Hadrat Sayyiduna Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) requested permission of the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) to read a few stanzas in his praise then Rahmate Alam (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said, " My dear Uncle ! Go ahead. May Almighty Allah keep your mouth well."
Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (Radi ALLAH Anho) said:
... Before you came to this world,
you were excellent in the shadows and in the repository (i.e. loins)
in the time when they (Adam and Eve) covered themselves with leaves.
Then you descended through the ages...
When you were born, the earth shone
and the horizon was illuminated by your light.
We travel in that illumination and in the light and in the paths of right guidance."
Mullah Ali al-Qari in his ‘Sharh al-Shifa’(1:364) says it is related by Abu Bakr al-Shafi`i and Tabarani, and cited by Ibn `Abd al-Barr and Ibn al-Qayyim respectively in ‘al-Isti`ab’ and ‘Huda Nabiyy Allah (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim)’.
This has been stated in distinguished works of great Muhaditheen such as Imam Jalaluddeen Suyuti, Muhadith ibn Jauzi, Allamah Ibn Hajr, Allamah Halbi, Allamah Dahlaan Makki, Allamah Nibhaani, Allamah ibn Abdul Birr, Allamah Haakim, Allamah Ibn Kathir and Allamah Sharistaani (radi Allahu Anhumul Ajmaeen).

Hazrat Aaisha (Radi ALLAH Anha) narrates, that Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) built a MIMBER for Hazrat Hassan (Radi ALLAH Anho) in Masjid-e-Nabawi Shareef, and Hazrat Hassan use to Recite Naats standing on that MIMBER and also use to give answers to MUSHRIKEEN on behalf of Syyeduna Muhammadur Rasoolullah (Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam). For this act of Hazat Hassan Holy Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam) said "Untill Hassan recites and give answers to mushrikeen on this MIMBER, Jibreel-e-Ameen helps him." 1. Hazrat Shaikh Saadi (Radi ALLAH Anho) wrote:

When Hazrat Saadi was writing these Verses, he had no idea about the fourth line, that what should be the fourth line, then Syyeduna Muhammadur Rasoolullah (Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam) ordered him to write "SALLU ALAIHI WA'AALIHI".

The writer HAZRAT IMAAM SAALIH SHARA-FUD-DEEN ABU ABDULIAH MUHAMMAD BIN HASAN AL-BUSAIRI Radi ALLAH Anho had become paralysed. His doctors and physicians gave up all hope of his recovery. Eventually in this state of complete helplessness and despair he composed this poem expressing the grandeur and excellence of Sayyidina Rasuluallah Sallallhu Alayhi Wasallam. Using this as his sole means of asking Allah Ta'alaa to cure him from his illness. He isolated himself in a quiet place one Thursday night and with complete devotion, concentration and sincerity, began reciting this poem. While reciting it sleep overcame him. He had a vision of Sayyidina Rasuluallah Sallallhu Alayhi Wasallam. He told Sayyidina Rasuluallah Sallallhu Alayhi Wasallam of his illness whereupon Sayyidina Rasuluallah Sallallhu Alayhi Wasallam passed his blessed hand over Imam Busairi's body. Through the barakat and blessing of Sayyidina, Rasuluallah Sallallhu Alayhi Wasallam Allah Ta’alaa granted him complete cure from his paralysis. When he awoke he found a scarf or shawl on his body, which he had seen Sayyidina Rasuluallah Sallallhu Alayhi Wasallam place on his paralysed limbs.
In the morning when due to some necessity. He went to the bazaar, a pious dervish greeted him with salaam and
requested him to recite the qasidah which he had composed in praise of Sayyidina Rasuluallah Sallallahu Alayhi
Wasallam The poet said that I have composed many poems in praise of Rasuluallah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam,
which one do you wish to hear? The dervish replied: 'the one which begins with, A-min Tazak-kurin (i.e. Qasidah
Burdah)". Upon this request the poet became wonder struck and said, "I take an oath that no one knows about this poem. Tell me the truth, from whom did you hear about it?" The dervish replied, "I take an oath by Allah that I heard it from you last night when in a dream you had recited it to Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam, whereupon Sayyidina Rasuluallah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam became attentive towards you and because of its blessings Allah Ta'alaa granted you complete cure from your ailment".
